  • What is asymmetric crypto system ?

    A system of secure key pair consisting of a private key for creating a digital signature and a public key to verify the signature.

  • what is meant by certificate revocation ?

     The act of invalidating a certificate as a trusted security credential prior to the natural expiration of its validity period.

  • what is meant by certificate revocation list (CRL) ?

    A periodically issued list, digitally signed by a CA or sub- CA , of identified certificates that have been revoked prior to their expiration dates. The list generally indicates the CRL issuer’s name , the date of issue, the date of the next scheduled CRL issue, the revoked certificates serial numbers & the specific times & reasons for revocation.

  • What is meant by certification practice statement (CPS)?

    A statement of the practices that Mtnl Trust Line or a customer employs in approving or rejecting certificate applications &issuing , revocating & renewing certificates.

  • What is meant by certifying authority (CA)?

    certifying authority (CA) means a person who has been granted a licence to issue a digital signature certificate under section 24 of the Indian IT-Act 2000.

  • What is meant by digital signature?

    Authentication of any electronic record by a subscriber by means of an electronic method or procedure in accordance with the provisions of section 3 of the Indian IT-Act –2000.

  • What is Encryption?

    The translation of data into a secret code. Encryption is the most effective way to achieve data security. To read encrypted data , you must have access to a secret key that enables you to decrypt it. Unencrypted data is called plain TEXT; encrypted data is referred to as CIPHER TEXT.

    There are two main type of encryption

    • Asymmetric encryption (public key encryption)

    • Symmetric encryption

  • What is Indian IT –Act 2000

    The term IT-Act refeers to the act of parliament of India and its associated rules,regulations & guidelines . The IT-ACT provides the legal framework for offering CA services in India.
